Gummy smile correction post-orthodontic treatment

A 23 year old male was undergoing orthodontic treatment. It was a case with vertical maxillary excess, but surgical line of treatment was not chosen. Conventional fixed mechano-therapy with metal braces was done which continued for 4 years +. Then the orthodontist was changed. The gingiva was extremely fibrotic and the patient had a severe gummy smile. Gummy smile correction was done with Gingivectomy using conventional blade and electro cautery. Post treatment results have been fantastic.
