Periodontal plastic surgery for correction of severe, localized gingival recession using free-gingival and connective-tissue grafts
This is a case report by Dr K Balasubramanian, L Mohamed Arshad and B Dhathri Priya. Patient was 37-year-old, female patient with no comorbidities. She suffered from chronic, localized periodontitis with severe gingival recession at 21 for the past 8 months and needed esthetic treatment. Treatment commenced with debridement of root surface and prescription of oral prophylaxis. Then, coverage of root surface was done on 2 steps. First step was construction of free gingiva using a palatal graft which was retained for 3 months; and the second step was augmenting connective tissue graft, also taken from the palate. Six-month postoperative follow-up was satisfactory and no secondary recession was noted.
