there's five slides in this series..... a questionably restorable lower right second premolar in severe lingual crossbite that essentially was going to create a problem in overall final restorative plan. after consideration of multiple options through multiple discussions, we opted to remove this potentially critical abutment........ .. not that i do break a root tip every now and then, :-) so you are looking at only the apical five millimeters. based on my previous rant regarding claims of cbct's and their ability to view anatomy, i had an opportunity here to compare what we see in reality vs what the cbct showed. the cbct slice shown in slide one is approximately 2mm from the root tip itself. view and study that and then progress through the other views of the reality within that root tip. IMHO, it is only in retrospect after looking at reality, can we even begin to discern anything at all from the cbct scan regarding this anatomy. this is a rare opportunity to be able to compare and contrast canal anatomy from a cbct to the patent pending method of tooth clearing that i have been using..... enjoy...
